Join the Southeastern Iowa Amputee Support Group for a dinner and hockey game honoring Andy Yohe

Tomorrow Saturday April 9, the Southeastern Iowa Amputee Support Group will host a dinner honoring Andy Yohe, followed by a hockey game at the Stable in Cedar Rapids. The mission of the Southeastern Iowa Amputee Support Group is to provide face to face support to people in Eastern Iowa with limb loss and to empower them through education, support and advocacy. The group meets once a month to discuss issues facing its members and to provide support to those in the community. The group also holds community events, such as sports outings and guest lectures.

Andy Yohe is a native of Bettendorf, Iowa. Fond of hockey throughout his childhood, he played for the Bettendorf Young Guns and joined the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s hockey team, the Blackhawks, after losing both his legs in an accident in 1994. He set the club’s record for points scored in a season by a rookie. In 2006 he joined Team USA at the Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy, and he was part of the team that captured the gold medal at the Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada in 2010.

Tomorrow, Access 2 Independence in correlation with the Southeastern Iowa Amputee Support Group will host a dinner in Andy’s honor at La Cava in Coralville. The night’s event will continue from 7 to 9 at the Stable in Cedar Rapids, where attendees will have the exciting opportunity to watch the Roughriders play against Team USA!
