Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers are vital to making Access 2 Independence a center for excellence. By helping our organization, you are empowering hundreds of people with disabilities throughout the Eastern Iowa Corridor to achieve and maintain their independence.
What can you do to help?
Community Outreach:
Whether they are passing out and posting fliers, scheduling or giving I&R presentations, or tabling at events, our Outreach Volunteers always stay busy!
Program Development:
Help create and facilitate peer groups, classes, programs, and other ways for consumers to get involved with the services we offer as an organization.
Operations:
This can include anything from filing and organization the office, to answering phones, to helping consumers access the computer lab depending on a volunteers skill and comfort level.

Fundraising:
We are always in need of fundraising volunteers! Tasks include: planning and running fundraising campaigns; research, and database input; developing donor materials, presentations and mailings.
Communications:
Volunteers regularly create posters and brochures, generate content for social media sites, and update the A2I blog.
Direct Service:
Work directly with consumers as needed to provide advocacy, and independent living skills training. Some experience is necessary and restrictions may apply.
Peer Support:
Help consumers develop independent living and advocacy skills, and provide empathy, friendship, and a morale boost. After a short training period, peer support can be provided at our office or in the community, depending on the consumer’s needs.

Special Event Coordination:
From our small-scale outreach events to fundraising banquets, special event volunteers have the opportunity to do it all. We would love your help to create fun and memorable events for our consumers, donors, and community members!
